History
In early 2002, a local IT company that looked to partner with an Indian owned company approached the Cedar Band of Paiutes. The band researched the opportunity, and in about seven months created Suh’dutsing Technologies. However, by the time the group established the company, obtained its certifications and licensing, the local IT company had gone out of business. As a result, the Cedar Band of Paiutes, in the spring of 2003, decided to still move forward and run the company without the partnership of the now defunct IT company.
Suh’dutsing Technologies obtained help through the state of Utah and found a mentor Protégé Company. Further, they received a $3,400 grant from the SUU Rural Development for marketing and about $4,000 cash start up money from the Cedar Band of Paiutes. Immediately, key staff marketed Suh’dutsing Technologies in October of 2003 by knocking on the doors of federal agencies and IT companies in Washington DC with no success. Three months later, while attending a The Reservation Economic Summit (RES) Conference in Las Vegas NV in February 2004, sponsored by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, Suh’dutsing Technologies conducted a presentation in front of about 20 representatives from various federal agencies. At the conference, the company landed their first contract with the Department of the Interior. Through the establishment of the DOI-IDIQ contract, Suh’dutsing Technologies jump-started its business success. In September 2004, Suh’dutsing Technologies started putting hardware and software equipment task orders against the IDIQ contract and it’s been up hill ever since.
Today Suh’dutsing Technologies, headquartered in Cedar City, Utah, has more than 50 employees. With regional offices located in California, Washington D.C. and Ohio, Suh’dutsing Technologies has filled the critical needed for IT solutions with a focus on helping clients achieve profitability and growth by improving their ability to understand and manage their customers and partners.Over the years, the company has received some distinguished honors based revenue, leadership and experience. Currently, Suh’dutsing Technologies ranks #11 as one of 2007’s top 25 8(a) companies in the U.S.
Suh’dutsing Technologies has been fortunate to stand on its own merits and does not wish to put any type of debt or hardship on the Cedar Band of Paiutes. The company has continued to remain a profitable company based on its strong management team and its President and company’s founder, Travis N. Parashonts.
With over 40 years of combined IT and government experience, the management team is critical to the company’s success. Since September 2004 through the end of 2007, the company has more than doubled its productivity and continues to grow while stimulating economic development and job creation.
